SINGAPORE: Keppel Offshore & Marine said on Monday its shipbuilding arm has clinched three new building contracts totalling about S$140 million.
The first contract was awarded to Keppel Singmarine by Dutch dredging and marine contractor, Royal Boskalis Westminster, to build a 159-metre long rock dumping fall pipe vessel to be completed in late 2011.
These vessels are capable of depositing large amounts of rocks in deep waters to protect and stabilise cables and oil and gas pipelines on the seabed.
The second contract is to build a 65-tonne tugboat with firefighting capabilities for repeat customer Smit International.
The third contract is for a 50-tonne tugboat for an Indonesian customer.
The tugboats are scheduled for completion this year.
The contracts are not expected to have any material impact on Keppel's earnings for the current financial year.
