SINGAPORE: Companies have generally benefited from training under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) System.

A survey conducted by the Workforce Development Agency (WDA) to assess the outcome of the training found that more than 90 per cent of companies and trainees experienced better work performance after training.

More than 90 per cent of trainees applied at work the skills learnt. Other positive outcomes reported by companies include better quality of services, productivity and product quality.

For the workers, training has resulted in pay increment, promotion as well as more or new job responsibilities.

The survey found that having experienced the benefits of WSQ training, more than 85 per cent of both companies and trainees indicated interest to continue with other WSQ training programmes or to recommend them to others.

There is also greater awareness and adoption of WSQ by companies. The top sectors with the highest WSQ adoption rates are security, aerospace and tourism.
