SINGAPORE : UK insurance giant Prudential has moved to address concerns over its takeover of American International Assurance (AIA).

Prudential CEO Tidjane Thiam and his AIG counterpart Robert Benmosche held closed door meetings with employees of both companies on Thursday.

Some 800 staff members were expected to have attended the session.

According to an AIA staff, the sentiment in the room was mild.

And some agents believe the integration will be seamless.

Prudential has also launched a microsite on the Internet, to help answer queries from staff about the deal.

The CEOs are on a trip across the region, speaking to staff in other markets such as Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong.

Earlier this week, Prudential announced that it had agreed to buy over AIA for US$35.5 billion, making it the market leader in Asia. - CNA/ms
