SINGAPORE: Nasdaq-listed US firm Electro Scientific Industries or ESI said on Friday that it is expanding its Singapore-based operations.

The supplier of laser systems said it has opened a new Asia manufacturing and service plant in Kaki Bukit industrial hub.

ESI will initially use the facility for manufacturing and service of its micro-machining and passive components product lines.

The plant will also provide the company with the capability to manufacture and service its other new and existing product lines.

ESI said the expansion is to enable it to support its Asian micro-machining and passive components customers.

It added that the move will also enable it to enjoy closer collaboration with its regional customers and suppliers. - CNA/vm
