SINGAPORE: The key Straits Times Index rose 8.97 points to 2,883.30 within minutes of trading, after losing 7.03 points on Monday.
Share prices ended 0.2 per cent weaker on Monday, weighed down by losses on regional markets.
Dealers said shares in Hong Kong and China on Monday, were pressured by lingering worries over fresh monetary tightening measures by Beijing. Investors were also wary ahead of rate-setting meetings at the US Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan later this week.
Analysts said markets are sensitive to possible liquidity changes as they await monetary policy cues from the two major central banks.
