SINGAPORE : Stocks in Singapore closed flat on Thursday as investor sentiment remained fragile due to concerns about the global economy after more downbeat data from the US.
The Commerce Department on Wednesday said new home sales in July had plunged 12.4 per cent month-on-month to the lowest level since 1963.
The Straits Times Index fell 0.68 points to close at 2,925.87.
Volume was 1.33 billion shares.
Losers led gainers 224 to 177.
Sembcorp Industries was up 1.70 per cent to S$4.20, while Jardine Cycle and Carriage rose 0.74 per cent to S$32.84.
Genting Singapore rose 1.3 per cent to S$1.60, while Noble Group declined 1.3 per cent to S$1.57. - AFP/CNA/ms
