SINGAPORE : Leadership development continues to be one of the priorities of Singapore's largest electronics sector union, the United Workers of Electronics and Electrical Industries (UWEEI).

And one of its stalwarts, UWEEI General Secretary Cyrille Tan said he will be making way for new blood in 2012, midway through the current term of the newly-elected executive committee.

Mr Tan, who is also currently the vice-president of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), has also served as a Nominated Member of Parliament.

Meanwhile, the union has reported its membership numbers growing from strength to strength.

As of May this year, the union broke its 53,000 membership record to hit 53,628 unionists.
