SINGAPORE: Mainboard-listed Trek 2000 has clinched its first patent from the US.
The patent is for its portable data storage device with a secure mode of operation.
This adds to Trek's current stable of intellectual property, which includes patents for its basic portable USB mass storage device, a portable USB mass storage device with biometrics-based authentication capability, and its "Email on the Move" solution.
Trek says it plans to leverage its patented technologies to develop new business opportunities in the US and other key markets.
The US patent comes a month after Trek sealed a deal with Imation Corp, which makes removable storage media.
The deal grants Imation global sales, marketing and distribution rights to Trek's USB portable storage products under the ThumbDrive brand.
Universal Serial Bus or USB is the industry's standard port on virtually all new computers.
It is designed for easy "plug and play" connection to a wide array of digital peripherals. - CNA
