SINGAPORE : Some S$250 million (US$150 million) in business deals are expected to be transacted over the next three days at the inaugural Asia Fashion Week.
Hall 2 of the Singapore Expo has been transformed for the event.
At a sneak preview on Monday, models were seen going through the paces and getting ready for the opening show.
When Asia Fashion Week kicks off, there will be fashion shows every 15 minutes - showcasing the latest creations from Singapore and the region.
Delhi-based fashion designer Jattinn Kochhar, who has been in the industry for some 14 years, hopes his participation in the inaugural event will bring in more than just new deals.
He said it was not just for the business aspect in mind, but also in terms of growing with other creative people through the exchange of ideas.
Exhibitors say they hope to attract buyers from the region and beyond.
Loy Joon How, Director of International Sales at Singex, said: "We differentiate ourselves from other events in the region. We have created a platform for business or fashion brands to be contacted over the next three days."
Designers are targeting for big orders from big-time professional buyers.
But there is some good news - designers say they may sell some of the product designs at the end of the exhibition. - CNA/de
