SINGAPORE : Rotary Engineering has won a S$30 million contract from Australian renewable energy firm Natural Fuel to build its bio-diesel facility at Jurong Island.

Work on the project is due to be completed by the end of this year.

Rotary will provide civil works, tankage works for 32 tanks, piping works as well as electrical and instrumentation services.

The plant is expected to be the world's largest for producing bio-diesel.

When the first phase is completed, it will have an annual production capacity of 600,000 metric tons of bio-diesel a year.

It will also manufacture 60,000 tons of high-grade glycerine a year.

High-grade glycerine is a by-product used in food, cosmetics and soaps. - CNA/ms
