The National University of Singapore has been selected to host the first-ever Asian leg of the Global Security Challenge.

It will be held on September 12.

The business plan competition is to find and select the most promising security technology start-ups in the world.

Last year, it attracted participation from entrepreneurs in the security sector of powerhouses such as the United States, United Kingdom and Israel.

The organisers believe the Asian leg will encourage more entries from the region.

The other two legs of the challenge will be held in Washington DC on September 5 and in Munich on October 2.

Five finalists from the various legs will then compete at the Grand Finals in London in November.

Winners will get a $500,000 grant and the privilege of being mentored by leading venture capitalists. - CNA/ch
