SINGAPORE: China Aviation Oil (CAO) has appointed Dr Wang Kai Yuen as an independent director.
He is concurrently appointed as CAO's chairman of the Audit Committee and Disclosure Committee as well as a member of the Nominating Committee and Remuneration Committee.
In a statement to SGX, CAO said Dr Wang was a member of the Corporate Governance Assessment Committee which was constituted in June 2005 during the restructuring of CAO.
The committee was primarily involved in reviewing the corporate practices of CAO and in proposing improvements to its internal controls and corporate governance practices.
A former MP, Dr Wang is currently the centre manager of Fuji Xerox Singapore Software Centre.
Last week, CAO announced the resignation of an independent director, Lee Suet Fern.
In her letter of resignation, she had said it was becoming increasingly difficult for her to properly discharge her role as a result of CAO's approach to information flow and the management of decision making, review and oversight. - CNA/ir
