SINGAPORE: The former head of embattled Jade Technologies Anthony Soh is leaving the company completely.

In a stock exchange filing, Jade Tech said Mr Soh is stepping down as non-executive director with immediate effect. He was formerly its group president.

Dr Soh said his departure would be in the best interests of the company and its shareholders.

Jade Tech is at the centre of a probe following Dr Soh's withdrawal of his takeover offer for the company after failing to secure enough funds.

The firm has also appointed retired politician Wan Soon Bee as an independent director with immediate effect to further strengthen its board.

He has also been appointed to chair the company's Remuneration Committee and serve as a member of the Audit Committee.

Dr Wan had served as a Minister of State from 1983 to 1985, and was a Member of Parliament from December 1980 to October 2001.

He has held numerous directorships over the years, including stints in Comfort Group and Singapore Airlines.

Currently, he is an independent director of construction firm Lian Beng Group and Chemical Industries. - CNA/vm
