TRIPOLI : The leaders of Singapore and Libya have agreed that both countries should speed up finalising two agreements - the Investment Guarantee Agreement and an Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement.

This was discussed in Tuesday's meeting between Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Dr Saif Al-Islam Al-Ghaddafi, the Libyan leader's son.

Mr Goh, who is visiting Libya for the first time, was hosted to dinner by Dr Al-Ghaddafi.

They exchanged views on possible areas for economic cooperation between Singapore and Libya.

These include the development of the tourism sector in Libya, waste water management and the development and management of ports and airports. - CNA/ms
