SINGAPORE : Taiwan-based electronics firm Lite-On Technology has opened a new research and development facility in Singapore.

The new centre will also function as Lite-On's headquarters for the region.

The company said that Singapore's strong pool of engineering talent was a central factor in its setting up here.

It will focus on developing new products for the company's existing portfolio of consumer, automotive, communication and industrial products.

The research facility is the first outside of Taiwan for Lite-On. - CNA /ls
