SINGAPORE : Cosco Corp's outgoing vice-chairman, president and executive director, Ji Hai Sheng, has been transferred back to China by Cosco's parent company.

Cosco shocked the market on Wednesday when it announced that Ji was retiring from all his posts at the Singapore-listed company.

In a telephone interview from Shanghai, Ji said he has yet to be informed what new role he will be playing in Cosco's China operations.

He joined the company in 1975, and as recently as Monday was seen presenting Cosco's sterling second quarter results to media and shareholders.

Ji has been replaced by Jiang Lijun, CEO of Cosco Shipping. - CNA /ls
