SINGAPORE: Chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan N Tata, and senior chairman of IMC Group, Frank Tsao Wen-King, have been conferred the prestigious Honorary Citizen award.

Both men received their awards from President SR Nathan at the Istana on Friday.

Mr Tata had been instrumental in expanding and diversifying his company's operations, which have helped Singapore tap into higher value-added growth sectors such as information technology and auto components.

Mr Tsao had championed Singapore's development as an international maritime centre.

The Honorary Citizen award is the highest form of recognition given to global talent by the Singapore government for outstanding contributions to the country's growth and development.
