SINGAPORE: Singapore share prices surged 3.6 percent in morning trade on Monday as news of the US government's bailout of ailing mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac sparked bargain hunting, dealers said.

The Straits Times Index was at 2,666.71 in late morning trade, up 92.50 points from Friday's close.
