Record 17.4m derivatives contracts traded from July-September on SGX

SINGAPORE: A record 17.4 million derivatives contracts were traded between July and September on the Singapore Exchange (SGX).

This was 17 per cent higher than the previous high of 14.8 million traded between January and March this year.

The 46.6 million contracts traded in the futures and options market during the first nine months of 2008 already exceeded the total volume for 2007.

Exchange-traded funds also turned in a record performance, with trading values reaching S$323 million in September. This was 4 per cent higher than the previous record of S$311.3 million in March.
