SINGAPORE: Singapore shares were 3.78 per cent higher in early trade Wednesday after Wall Street's strong finish overnight, dealers said.

The main Straits Times Index rose 63.01 points to 1,729.50.

Wall Street closed Tuesday almost 11 per cent higher amid hopes for a rate cut and easing of a global credit crunch.
