SINGAPORE: Movers in Singapore are enjoying brisk business even before the peak period in November, despite the global financial crisis.

This is in contrast to many companies which are already feeling the knock-on effects from the bad economy.

Samuel Zeng, quality manager, The Family Movers, said: "We see a high movement of outbound services as expats move back to their own countries.

"There are also a lot of locals moving because of the budget that they have. We've been helping them move from bigger-sized apartments to smaller-sized apartments."

The movers are also seeing companies downsize to smaller office units to save on rental.

To reduce the number of trips that they make in order to save costs, movers pack items in a compact manner, allowing them to transport more things in a single trip.
