SINGAPORE: SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) posted a 1.5 per cent fall in profit to S$73.4 million for the second quarter ended September.
The company saw a 6.1 per cent drop in profits from associated and joint venture companies to S$39.7 million.
Revenue for the second quarter was up 5.1 per cent to S$279.3 million.
This was attributed to higher line maintenance revenue, more flights handled and a turnkey project to redesign, retrofit and overhaul a Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
Second quarter earnings per share fell 2.2 per cent to 6.80 cents.
For the first half, profit declined 8.9 per cent to S$132.1 million.
In the same period, revenue slipped 1.2 per cent to S$529.5 million due to lower material usage and component overhaul work.
First half earnings per share was 9.7 per cent lower at 12.27 cents.
SIAEC said it will continue to exercise tighter cost control and look for ways to improve productivity in light of the current difficult economic conditions. - CNA/vm
