SINGAPORE: Internet services giant Yahoo confirmed it has laid off several staff at its Singapore office on Wednesday afternoon.

Yahoo had previously announced in October that it would cut at least 10 per cent of its global workforce in the fourth quarter of 2008.

According to sources close to the company, the retrenchment in Singapore affected a small number of staff.

Yahoo has stated earlier it aims to cut costs by US$400 million before the end of the year.
