SINGAPORE: Singaporeans are worried about job security and their personal finances, according to a Citibank survey.
The survey, conducted in October, showed that eight in ten Singapore residents were finding it more difficult to save money, due to the rise in living costs.
One in five Singaporeans said he had less than a month's salary to fall back on if he lost his job. The survey showed that an average Singaporean only had three months of reserve savings to live on.
The Citibank survey also showed that Singaporeans had scaled back on their spending across the board.
Six in 10 had cut back on dining out at restaurants, while over 40 per cent had postponed holiday plans and had shelved plans to buy big ticket items.
The deepening economic crisis had also prompted one third of those polled to seriously consider taking on a second job.
The survey, which polled 400 Singapore residents, was conducted by independent global research firm CXC Research.
