SINGAPORE: Channelnews Asia's parent company, MediaCorp, has signed an advertising sales representative agreement with one of the world's most respected community publishing platforms, LiveJournal Inc.

With immediate effect, MediaCorp becomes the exclusive re-seller of LiveJournal advertising inventory in Singapore and will also spearhead campaign delivery for LiveJournal advertisers here.

LiveJournal's existing sales force in Singapore will be directed and managed by MediaCorp.

Locally, LiveJournal has nearly 850,000 unique monthly users and serves about 35 million pages a month.

It is the third most popular blogging community site and well known for its group-buying "sprees" among young women in Singapore.

Steven Chan, senior vice president, Interactive Media Division, MediaCorp, said: "With a ten-year track record of innovation, combined with strong growth in the United States, Russia, and Singapore, LiveJournal is one of the world's most interesting social media companies.

"They also have a passionate and prolific user base, with strong demographics in entertainment, parenting, politics and more."

LiveJournal blurs the lines between blogging and social networking.

Since its launch in the United States in 1999, it has registered more than 18 million accounts worldwide. - CNA/vm
