SINGAPORE: It's still game on for some companies despite the tough economic conditions. Among them is Japanese electronic gaming giant, KOEI, which is looking to expand in Singapore.

Having successfully launched popular games like the Romance of the Three Kingdoms Online, KOEI now plans to increase the production of such games from its Singapore office.

To cope with this, it is aiming to double its staff strength by hiring between 30 and 60 people over the next two years.

It now employs close to 50 workers in Singapore, comprising programmers, designers and computer graphic artists.

Singapore's Economic Development Board said KOEI is not the only gaming firm that is looking to grow a presence here. It said it is in talks with other big gaming companies about setting up studios in the city state. - CNA/vm
