SINGAPORE: Jurong Shipyard, a subsidiary of mainboard-listed Sembcorp Marine, has won a new order to build a semi-submersible oil rig worth US$237.3 million.

This is the second rig order that Jurong Shipyard has secured from Oban B Limited to complete and deliver an ultra-deepwater oil drilling unit.

The unit is scheduled for delivery by end-June, 2011.

Jurong Shipyard's senior general manager, Don Lee, said the firm's order book continues to strengthen, despite the current challenges due to the economic downturn.

He added that the rig order is testimony of the confidence that Jurong's clients have in its track record and project execution capabilities.

Sembcorp Marine expects positive contributions from the contract for its 2010 and 2011 fiscal years.
