SINGAPORE: More local organisations are contributing to relief efforts for quake victims in Sumatra.
The Muslim Converts' Association of Singapore presented a cheque of S$50,000 to Mercy Relief.
The cheque was presented by its president Muhammad Faiz Edwin Ignatious, who visited the Mercy Relief office at Toa Payoh on Thursday.
The association's contribution is the second largest single donation to Mercy Relief, following French hypermart giant Carrefour's contribution of S$205,000 to Mercy Relief on Wednesday.
Satwant Singh, director, Mercy Relief, said: "Their S$50,000 contribution will go a long way in procuring more relief supplies such as water, food, household essentials which are critically needed on the ground." - CNA/vm
