SINGAPORE : A businessman from China has been cleared of robbery charges.

Zhou Sunfu was accused of trying to rob cab driver Robert Lee inside his cab.

The incident occurred on October 19.

Both Zhou and Lee were injured after the taxi crashed into a pillar.

The taxi driver is still in hospital.

Zhou's mother, girlfriend and several of his friends turned up to support him in court.

The defence lawyer said he is pleased with the outcome of the case. - CNA/ms
