SINGAPORE : The Singapore Red Cross will be sending aid relief to Vietnam following the devastation caused by tropical storm Mirinae.

Authorities said there is a need for rice and water-sanitation items.

The Singapore Red Cross will be sending S$80,000 from the Typhoon Ketsana Appeal Fund to help purchase 50 tonnes of rice and 400 pieces of 500-litre plastic water tanks.

Although the licence for the Typhoon Ketsana Appeal Fund has expired on October 30, the Singapore Red Cross will consider unsolicited donations should donors wish to make a donation to the fund.

Donations via cheque can be sent to the Singapore Red Cross at 15 Penang Lane, Singapore.

Those who wish to donate should include their name, contact details and "Typhoon Ketsana Appeal" at the back of the cheque. - CNA /ls
