A woman was caught early Wednesday morning trying to smuggle 98 packets of tobacco into Singapore.
The 44-year-old woman's motorbike was searched during a routine check at Tuas checkpoint.
47 packets of tobacco, wrapped in roti prata (Indian pancake), were found in the rider's bag.
More packets were found in her bags and shoes.
A total of 98 small packets of tobacco products were uncovered.
The woman admitted she owned them and said the tobacco was for personal consumption and to sell to her colleagues.
Three days earlier, a man was caught at Woodlands checkpoint, also attempting to smuggle in tobacco by wrapping the contraband in roti prata. - CNA/ir
