SINGAPORE: It is definitely not your ordinary run-of-the-mill wedding location - the Singapore Management University (SMU) city campus has been added to the list of unusual places in Singapore to get hitched.

Newly-wed couple Eunice and Adriel Lim helped SMU write its history books by becoming the first couple to get married on the campus grounds.

For the bride, an SMU alumni, it was an easy decision to make:

"For me the main reason is I've always been in SMU, we've had a lot of events out here on the green just like what you're seeing…so with my friends we've had many good times on the green.

"I wanted to experience that again, to be with my friends, to be with my loved ones. SMU - it's really one of the times when I spent the best years of my life so I wanted to bring it to my marriage, the next stage of my life," said Eunice.

While husband Adriel is not a student from SMU, it did not take much convincing for him to go along with the wedding plans:

"My first reaction is that it is something new, different and for both of us we've always wanted to try something different that nobody has done before so that really excites me, that's the main reason why I got so excited about this," he said.

But there were also some anxieties hosting an outdoor wedding with more than 200 guests.

"For the both of us the biggest challenge is the weather, everything you can control except the weather. Thank god it was cool weather," said Adriel.

And it also made a big difference having the university behind the couple.

"We were very touched because yesterday the green was still quite… there was not enough grass, so they started planting grass, cleaning the floor, flattening the grass, and that was very moving and we felt we were being supported," said Eunice.

In case you are wondering how long it took to plan the picture perfect wedding, set in the heart of town - for this couple, the 12 months of planning was well worth a lifetime of memories. - CNA/yy
