SINGAPORE : The Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) said it had already raised the issue of the NETS' fee hike to the Competition Commission, and would leave it to them to investigate the matter.

CASE President Yeo Guat Kwang was speaking to reporters during the Committee Against GST Profiteering walkabout in Hougang on Sunday.

He said: "What I want to highlight is not just periodic adjustment per se. I think NETS hasn't been adjusting fees for years. I think it's fair for them to make some adjustments.

"The question arising is really the issue of quantum. What CASE is very uncomfortable with is if the adjustment is three- or four-fold. If you look at the cost factor, I don't see how they will be able to justify such a huge increase. Yes, business cost has gone up. Manpower cost has gone up. What we hope is that they could come out more openly to inform the community what the cost factor is like."
