SINGAPORE: South Korea and China managed a clean sweep of all the gold medals at the World Cyber Games Asian Championships on Sunday.
It was a close fight for supremacy between the Malaysians and the Chinese in the game, Defence of the Ancients, but the Chinese won in the end.
In fact, the Chinese team was clearly on top of their game, garnering three out of the five gold medals in the Championships.
The gold medallists will head to Seattle, USA, for the World Cyber Games Championships in October.
The Singapore team won one silver medal and a bronze medal.
And while the main gaming action went on indoors, crowds were drawn to the people who had dressed up as various quirky cyber game characters.
Many had taken hours to perfect their cyber-hero look and the event was a great chance for them to meet like-minded folks.
While these people were bringing their virtual heroes to life, many were thrilled to witness a special appearance by homegrown Chinese pop star, JJ Lin, who took time out to play against some Singapore gamers.
Organisers said they were happy with this year's turnout, which saw 120 gamers from 12 countries gathering at Suntec Singapore, and were confident Singapore would host the Championships again next year.
