SINGAPORE : Singapore will host Asia's largest ever international legal conference from October 14 to 19.

More than 3,300 delegates from over 120 countries are expected to attend the International Bar Association (IBA) 2007 Annual Conference. At least 600 delegates will be from Southeast Asia.

Organisers have reduced registration fees for lawyers working in ASEAN countries to less than half the standard price, in a move to encourage more of them to attend the conference.

IBA says the diverse representation is favourable for the exchange of experiences and opinions.

There will be over 150 sessions during the week-long event, which will be held at Suntec Singapore.

Some topics to be discussed include key challenges facing international business lawyers who conduct cross-border transactions, especially in Asia.

The meeting will be opened by Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.
