SINGAPORE: The Black Knights will promise to thrill the crowds with even more jaw-dropping aero-acrobatic displays at the Singapore Airshow from 19 to 24 February.

Whether it is at 10,000 feet above the ground or the challenge of manoeuvring the plane at a speed of 130 to 600 knots, the Black Knights never fail to please the crowd.

At the upcoming Singapore Airshow, the six F-16C Fighting Falcons are set to impress even more with six new routines including what's called, "vertical twist".

Besides the pilots, one of the main elements for the success of the Black Knights is the 25-member ground crew who are similar to a pit crew of an F1 car.

MAJ Jeffrey Nah, Pilot of the RSAF Black Knights, said: "We have a strong safety culture and high maintenance standards. What they do is to make sure the aircraft runs smoothly and everything works well."

The Black Knights will perform daily, using white instead of red smoke at the upcoming Airshow.

This is due to concerns over contamination of farms near the Tengah Airbase after some 200 tonnes of vegetables had to be destroyed last November when they were stained with red dye from an RSAF jet.

Whatever colour the Black Knights choose to go with, the audience can expect a show to remember, when the F16s take off. - CNA/vm
