Title : Two Singaporeans receive Young Global Leaders 2008 award

SINGAPORE : NUS Associate Professor Adrian Cheok, who is the Director of the university's Mixed Reality Lab, has been selected as a Young Global Leader this year.

Professor Cheok is one of two Singaporeans to receive this award. The other recipient is Se-hong Hur, Vice-President of GS Caltex Corporation.

The award is an annual honour given to the top 200-300 young leaders from around the world by the World Economic Forum.

Recipients are recognised and acknowledged for their professional accomplishments, commitment to society and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world.

This year, 245 Young Global Leaders from 65 countries were selected from a pool of 5,000 candidates.

The selection committee is chaired by Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan. - CNA/de
