SINGAPORE: MediaCorp management and staff have been belting out songs round the clock, all for charity.

And they have entered the Singapore Book of Records for the most number of people singing karaoke in 24 hours.

A target of 100 singers was initially set. But the overwhelming response saw 310 employees singing their hearts out, and making it into the Singapore Book of Records.

The company's head honchos also lent their vocal talents.

MediaCorp Group CEO, Lucas Chow, said: "A lot of people came and supported the people who came and sang last night. They encouraged each other and gave each other food, drinks, including wine. And the spirit was one of a big family and getting together and doing something meaningful. So, I was actually very touched."

And for many, it was a great chance to spend quality time together.

Dr Roland Tan, MediaCorp Technologies' vice-president for radio technology, said: "We all had a lot of fun. Moreover, this is for charity, making it even more worthwhile."

The Rainbow Centre Balestier School and HCA Hospice Care will receive all donations from this fundraiser.

MediaCorp hopes to plan more of such meaningful and innovative events in the future. - CNA/ir
