SINGAPORE: Cycling on BMX bicycles will be one of the events featured at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010.
Singapore is now preparing to field a team to represent the country in this sport.
Enthusiasts from Precision Cycling Team have been organising free clinics at a BMX track for the last three months.
Besides training young cyclists, organisers are also trying to talent-spot members to form a national team for the YOG.
Participants will be coached on skills, fitness and even mental strength.
The team from Precision is hoping to get more support from sports associations to widen the talent pool.
The BMX track in Tampines is the only one of its kind in Singapore, so organisers hope other sports associations can help by providing transport for cyclists to train there.
Precision plans to send the chosen cyclists to compete in races held outside Singapore.
