SINGAPORE : President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Jacques Rogge, arrived in Singapore on Friday.
He is here with a four-member delegation to check on how Singapore is preparing for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010.
Dr Rogge arrived at 6.30pm, after a one-hour flight delay.
He was welcomed by top officials from the organising committee of the Youth Olympic Games.
Dr Rogge's three-day visit is packed with activities.
On Saturday, he will attend a briefing by the organising committee.
This will be followed by a dialogue session with students, a trip to the Games Village, a visit to Nanyang Technological University and then to the Singapore Sports School.
On Saturday evening, the IOC president will sign the Host City Contract at the Istana, and this will be witnessed by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Dr Rogge will head to Beijing after leaving Singapore. - CNA/ms
