SINGAPORE: Singapore will host the world's first fully 3-D based film and entertainment technology festival this November.
The Media Development Authority (MDA) said the festival, to be held from 19 to 23 November, will provide a good opportunity for filmmakers and technology companies to showcase their works for both trade and consumer audiences.
The festival will also give industry players the chance to discuss the latest trends and developments in 3-D.
The event, supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, will be officially named "3DX: 3D Film & Entertainment Technology Festival".
In highlighting what will be an international selection of films and properties for 3DX, the first two films chosen for the festival are "Fly Me To The Moon", an animated family film from Belgium's nWave Pictures, and "Journey To The Center Of The Earth", a live action adventure from New Line Cinema and Walden Media.
Highlights of the 3DX festival will include screenings of 3-D films, forums featuring guest speakers, directors, 3-D pioneers, visionaries and catalysts.
There will also be a red carpet reception and gala celebration along with special entertainment based events for the public.
Other government agencies backing 3DX are the Economic Development Board and Infocomm Development Authority. - CNA/ac
