SINGAPORE: 2.3 million Singaporeans have received the first instalment of their Growth Dividends, worth a total of S$407 million on 30 April 2008.

The Growth Dividends, which are being paid out in two instalments this year, were announced in the 2008 Budget Statement on 15 February as part of the government's move to share the country's surpluses with Singaporeans.

The second instalment will be paid out on 1 October.

On 1 July, eligible Singaporeans will also automatically receive their 2008 payout of GST Credits and Senior Citizens' Bonus.

The Finance Ministry said about 86,000 Singaporeans have yet to sign up for their GST Credits.

They may still do so online at
www.gstoffset.gov.sg or through forms available at Community Centres/Clubs, Community Development Councils and CPF Service Centres.

Once they have signed up for their GST Credits, they will automatically receive both their GST Credits and Growth Dividends.

The final deadline for those who have not signed up to receive their 2008 payouts is 31 December 2008.
