SINGAPORE: The Singapore Bodybuilding Federation (SBBF) has released the names of two of the six bodybuilders involved in the recent doping scandal here.
These two athletes are Leow Beng Wah and Muhd Hairi Rahman. Their urine samples had been tested positive for banned substances.
Richard Teng, president of the Singapore Bodybuilding Federation, said: "One of them is Mr Leow and the other one is Mr Hairi. These are the two people who have replied and said they are not going to contest (the charges). We are waiting for the rest to respond."
Mr Leow had taken part in the Flyweight category at the National Championship held on April 20 and he had come in third, while Mr Muhd Hairi had competed in the Lightweight category and had finished second.
They were issued a notice of suspension on May 6.
Speaking to the media at the opening of a new training centre for the national team at Cairnhill Community Club on Thursday, the SBBF president said the other four participants have not responded.
SBBF will wait for the response of the other four participants involved before issuing the mandatory two-year ban.
It added that it will seek legal advice and look at streamlining procedures for such incidents in future.
