SINGAPORE: Residents in MacPherson will be getting a dose of healthy lifestyle with a Wellness Programme that was launched on Sunday.
It is estimated that about a third of more than 11,000 MacPherson residents are 50 years old and above.
To help them keep healthy, Health Ambassadors will be on hand to guide seniors on health-related issues.
A new Seniors Connect Plus Programme will also be rolled out soon. It is the result of a review of the current Seniors Connect Programme which is aimed at getting more seniors to be physically active through social interest groups.
Minister Lim Boon Heng, Prime Minister's Office, said: "In the review, we find that the objectives of Seniors Connect Programme and the Wellness Programme overlap quite a bit.
"Therefore, we have decided to set up six sites under the Seniors Connect Programme that would have a higher emphasis on the physical activity of seniors, but the end result will be largely the same."
