SINGAPORE : MediaCorp's Channel NewsAsia and the Communication University of China have agreed to collaborate to boost media development in China.

The university's Media Management School and Channel NewsAsia signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Wednesday.

This will result in annual media forums being held over the next three years to develop the Chinese communications market.

Issues to be discussed at the forums include governance, entrepreneurship, and how the media and city development can work together.

The first forum will be held either in November 2008 or January 2009.

The MOU also includes developing areas of training and cultural exchanges.

The two organisations co-organised a new media forum last year that proved so successful that they decided to continue the working relationship.

The Communication University of China is one of the best media schools in the country, and produces some of the future decision-makers.

Managing Director of MediaCorp News Woon Tai Ho gave the students an insight into the workings of the foreign media.

He also discussed career development within the media sector.

Under the MOU, the University will help MediaCorp News International with content and production work for programmes on Chinese culture, history and the economy. - CNA/ms
