SINGAPORE: This year's smoking control campaign will focus on both youths and adults.

Youths will be encouraged to lead a smoke-free lifestyle as well as to advocate one.

This will be in line with the World Health Organisation's theme of 'Tobacco Free Youth' for World No Tobacco Day.

A Youth Against Tobacco workshop will be held here on May 28 and 29. The workshop will be attended by about 30 youth leaders from China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Australia and Singapore.

For the adults, the Health Promotion Board will raise awareness of Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (COLD).

From 15 May to 30 June, Mr Yap Seng Khoon, an ex-smoker and COLD patient, will be featured in a variety of TV, radio and print advertisements. - CNA/vm
