SINGAPORE: A flash fire at a substation caused power supply interruption in the Somerset Road area on Wednesday morning.

SP PowerGrid said contractors were working at the Somerset substation when the incident happened at 10.07am.

Witnesses told Channel NewsAsia they heard a loud bang coming from the Singapore Power Building at Somerset Road.

One caller said that about 500 people, believed to be those working in the building, made their way to the nearby Scape Park.

He also said that SCDF officers and two non-emergency ambulances were at the scene.

SP PowerGrid said the power was fully restored at 10.25am.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
