SINGAPORE: A taxi driver died after his vehicle collided with another car on Saturday morning.

The fatal accident happened at 2.15am at the junction of Somerset Road-Penang Road and Killiney Road.

It is believed the taxi turned turtle as a result of the impact of the crash.

According to the police, the cabbie, a Malay man in his thirties, had to be extricated from his vehicle by civil defence officers.

He was pronounced dead by paramedics at 2.35am at the scene.

The car driver- a Chinese man - and his female passenger, both in their 20s, were sent to the Singapore General Hospital with injuries.

They were conscious at that time.

A police spokesman confirmed there were no signs of drink-driving.
