SINGAPORE : Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Zainul Abidin Rasheed, will visit Meulaboh in the Indonesian province of Aceh from July 19-30.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday said he will attend the opening ceremony of the Babussalam School and Samatiga Orphanage as the Guest-of-Honour.
The two facilities were built by Mercy Relief and its partners as part of Singapore's contributions to Aceh's reconstruction after the Asian Tsunami in December 2004.
Other relief efforts by Singapore included rebuilding the Meulaboh pier and refurbishing the Cut Nyak Dhien Hospital. The Singapore International Foundation and Yayasan Fajar Hidayah also built the Fajar Hidayah Integrated Boarding School in Banda Aceh.
While in Meulaboh, Mr Zainul Abidin will be meeting the Regent of West Aceh, Ramli MS, and the Vice Regent of West Aceh, Fuadri.
He will be accompanied by a group of Aljunied GRC grassroots leaders and Mercy Relief volunteers. - CNA /ls
