SINGAPORE: Participation numbers have been going up for the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon.

But its organisers also want to increase the amount the event will raise for charity.

A record 48,000 runners are expected to pound the streets of Singapore on December 7, and organisers are hoping to raise S$500,000 for charity.

The amount will benefit seven charities under the Community Chest umbrella.

The route will be changed to include iconic sites like the Singapore Flyer and the Benjamin Sheares Bridge. - CNA/vm
